In this module you will have to select five individual cards that will result in the best possible hand.

High Card

Rank 1

A, 10, 9, 8, 5 high

This hand consists of 5 unconnected cards. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you sort the cards into descending order and then compare each card's value.

One Pair

Rank 2

A pair of 5s with a Queen, 7, 4 kicker

This hand consists of 2 of the same valued card and 3 unconnected cards. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you compare the value of the paired card. If the value is the same then you sort the remaining cards into descending order and then compare their values.

Two Pair

Rank 3

Two pair Kings and 4s with a Queen kicker

This hand consists of 2 of the same valued card twice. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you compare the highest valued pair. If these are of the same value then you compare the lowest valued pair. If these are the same then you compare the kicker's value.

Three of a Kind

Rank 4

Three of a Kind 2's with a K, J kicker

This hand consists of 3 of the same valued card. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you compare the value of the three of a kind. If the value is the same then you sort the remaining cards into descending order and then compare their values.

Straight

Rank 5

A King high straight

This hand consists of 5 consecutive non-suited cards. In this hand an Ace can be both high and low. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you sort the cards into descending order and then compare the highest card's value.

Flush

Rank 6

An Ace high flush

This hand consists of 5 cards of the same suit that are not consecutive. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you sort the cards into descending order and then compare each card's value.

Full House

Rank 7

6's full of Ace's

This hand consists of 3 of the same valued card and 2 of another valued card. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you compare the value of the three of a kind within the hand. If they are of the same value then you compare the pair's value.

Four of a Kind

Rank 8

Four of a Kind 3's with a 7 kicker

This hand consists of 4 of the same valued card and a kicker. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you compare the value of the 4 of a kind. If they are of the same value then you compare the kicker's value.

Straight Flush

Rank 9

A 6 high straight flush

This hand consists of 5 consecutive cards all of the same suit. To determine the winner between two hands of this rank you sort the cards into descending order and then compare the highest card's value.

Royal Flush

Rank 10

Royal Flush in spades

This hand consists of Ten to Ace all of the same suit. If two players both have a Royal Flush then they will always draw.
